My passion is painting landscapes of the west, incorporating bright, bold colors. Not thin anemic colors, but of the beautiful reds, oranges, yellows and bright blues. I also find great delight exploring my own backyard, the redwoods, mountains, ocean, clouds and the crazy weather of the Crescent City area.
On a painting field trip with the artist Greg Kondos to the Grand Canyon, it unlocked my love for the Southwest. After visiting Monet’s gardens in 2022, I found Monet brought to life in his paintings the world of color and light through the romantic forms of flowers, plants and water. I also had a chance in the spring of 2022 to visit the town that van Gogh was laid to rest. After visiting the room that he lived and painted in, and walking through his town, you couldn’t help but feel in awe of this great master.
Studying under the artist Tom Lynch with watercolors has taught me the freedom of using this medium in the most expressive way. As a landscape painter, using acrylic and watercolor, I am lost in the beauty of it all
