My art dreams began at 4 ½ years old. As I started in a Pilgrim Holiness school. I found a “special” book “Waggery Town” by Phillip Duncan. It was full of dog sketches. I spent hours trying to copy every page and dreamt of being an artist. Phil Duncan went on to become one of Disney’s first artists. As years went on, this book inspired my art dreams when my daughter met and married his grandson. I now have a signed copy of my favorite book!
So now I decided to get serious with my painting and pottery. I have designed the custom designs for my husband’s business, Andrews Ornamental Iron since 1969, and his metal sculptures have sold in many galleries.
I am self-taught. When we lived in Santa Cruz CA I would go to galleries and then try to paint from the ideas when I got home. After getting “Best of Show” in shows I decided to really take it seriously. Our 5 children are grown up, so now its time to enjoy my dreams in my home studio in Grants Pass, Oregon.
In the last 10 years, I have added original stoneware pottery to my art. It now shows in Oregon galleries as well as the Crescent Harbor Art Gallery in Crescent City, CA.
I love acrylic painting of the redwoods and doing seascapes and have shown in galleries on the west coast of California and Oregon, as well as art shows with my husband’s metal sculptures.
